Guide to YouTube Comments

When it comes to YouTube and social media in general, engagement is a key factor.

It provides valuable proof, especially to first-time visitors that other users are invested in your channel and your content. It also shows that they trust you as a creator and are invested enough in your content that they comment on it. Comments, in general, create discussion, meaning increased engagement and in turn mean more people want to be part of that cycle. It’s a win-win.

There are a few ways that you can increase the number of comments your videos receive. You can:

  • Be consistent
  • Use “Call to Actions”
  • Interact with existing comments
  • Promote your videos
  • End your videos with questions
  • Leave the first comment yourself
  • Replicate your best performing content
  • Hold competitions and giveaways

At Tube Spanner, we recommend this ratio:

  • 1 comment per 700+ views is poor
  • 1 comment per 400 – 500 views is good
  • 1 comment per 200 views or less is excellent
